The picturesque resort of Villars is one of the best known of the Alpes Vaudoises villages. As with the other neighbouring resorts, Villars prides itself on its family-orientated atmosphere, from its pleasant ski slopes to its friendly village centre.
Villars is reached by mountain train from Bex or by bus from Aigle, both valley hubs for trips up to the various local ski resorts.
Villars train station is in the middle of the resort on the Place de la Gare, and just north of this is the Avenue Centrale, with the majority of the bars, restaurants, shops and some of the hotels based around this area. On the east of the town, next to the Route du Col de la Croix and the Les Roches-Grises is the town's sports centre, the Centre des Sports de Villars, complete with five outdoor tennis courts, three indoor courts, three sports halls for tennis, volleyball, badminton and football, a fitness room and two squash courts. There is also an ice rink located just below the village, and also a swimming pool which was fully renovated for 2016.
