Jungfraujoch and the Sphinx Observatory - (c) Jungfrau Region / Jungfrau Railways

Given Switzerland's extraordinary geography, it's no surprise to discover that the country does indeed have its fair share of mountain-themed excursions, some of them incredible man made feats of engineering such as Europe's highest railway station at Jungfraujoch, made all the more amazing by the tunnelling up through the Eiger, or the Bond-themed Piz-Gloria, perched on top of the Schilthorn. Other excursions are purely natural wonders such as the Trumelbach Falls, where the locals have harnessed a bit of geographical magic and successfully made it into a popular attraction.

For anyone who's never been to Switzerland but is thinking of heading there and wondering what there is to do and see (apart from the obvious jaw-dropping scenery) then fear not - Switzerland has a great range of excellent and varied excursions. Even those visiting Switzerland to primarily do one main activity, such as skiing or hiking, might still fancy a day off for a local excursion (or be unlucky enough to be forced into one by the weather). Whatever the reason, there's plenty of things to see all around the country to keep visitors happy.
