Allalin - (c) Saas-Fee/Saastal Tourismus
The Allalin Rennen (Allalin Races) are annual ski races held each year on the slopes above Saas Fee. The races take their name from the Allalin Glacier on which the course is set, and features the longest glacier-based downhill ski race in the world.
The amateur event is one of the most popular, and important, races of its kind in Switzerland, and regularly attracts more than a thousand racers.
There are a variety of different events, from a fancy-dress-only race, to juniors, snowboarding and even an exciting 3-man team race. But it's the single-person adult ski race which is the main event, and one in which the victor will certainly have earned their bragging rights after such a thigh-burning descent.
The next Allalin Rennen at Saas Fee will take place on 13-14 April 2018.
