Lenzerheide Quick Facts
Resort: Lenzerheide
Altitude: 1473m
Ski Area: Arosa-Lenzerheide
Canton: Graubunden
Train Station: No
Main Language: German

The mountain resort of Lenzerheide is yet another Swiss gem that goes relatively unnoticed outside of Switzerland, despite having a fine range of ski slopes and a recent history as the home of the end of season finale on the alpine ski racing World Cup calendar.

Lenzerheide is located 20km south of Chur, in the canton of Graub√ľnden in eastern Switzerland. At 1475m, Lenzerheide has a healthy altitude for a ski resort village, and has slopes on opposite sides of the valley. The highest lifts reach up to 2865m at the Rothorn on the eastern side, whilst on the western side of the valley there are a variety of peaks and pistes shooting down through the wooded slopes back towards town. The lift systems down near the neighbouring resort of Valbella also provide the opportunity to link into the Arosa ski area which lie over the mountain peaks to the east.

Lenzerheide Positives and Negatives

  • Lenzerheide has a really large ski area on offer now it's linked to Arosa.
  • Good range of skiing to suit most levels, particularly intermediates.
  • Not many British skiers go there so the slopes can be relatively quiet at half-term.
  • No train station.
  • Apres ski and night-life is pretty quiet.

Lenzerheide The Resort Itself

Lenzerheide is a pleasant enough little town, set in a beautiful location just south of the lake of Heidsee, with the neighbouring resort of Valbella set on the opposite side of the lake. The Parpaner Rothorn and the Plessur Alps overlook the village centre, whilst in the valley bottom the main road, Voa Principala, cuts along the lake and then through the centre of Lenzerheide.

Lenzerheide has a sports centre on the northern edge of the village near to some of the winter-time nursery ski slopes, whilst south of this, as you come into Lenzerheide on the Voa Principala, is the main area of hotels, restaurants, bars, shops and also the tourist information centre. Unfortunately, Lenzerheide has no train station but their are regular buses from Chur.
